Welcome to Welsh Whiskey News on Planet Whiskies. There are currently seven whisky distilleries in Wales, but we only receive news from one of them, Penderyn, which is the most famous Welsh distillery. We would love to cover all seven distilleries, and hopefully, one day, that will happen, and we can have full coverage of the Welsh whisky industry.

Planet Whiskies has been sharing the latest news stories on our website for over 16 years, but this page only dates back to 2020 to keep all the whisky news relevant to recent times. Older news stories can be found on the Latest Whiskies News main page.

Tomintoul Distillery Tour

Planet Whiskies had a fantastic trip up to the Speyside Whisky region of Scotland in February 2024 to visit Angus Dundee Distillers Tomintoul Distillery within the Cairngorms National Park. Then, after the distillery tour and tasting, which was hosted by Iain Forteath, the master blender of Tomintoul, our press group travelled and stayed the night at the recently bought country home of Tomintoul House in the Aultmore Estate (previously called Aultmore House). Planet Whiskies has made the Tomintoul Distillery, Distillery of the Month for both March/April 2024.
