Bushmills Elevates Irish Whiskey Craft With Launch Of The Fifth Generation Of The Causeway Collection: The Elusive & Exclusive Collection Of Rare Irish Single Malts
Published Date: 24th September 2024
Bushmills, County Antrim, 24 September 2024: Bushmills Irish Whiskey has today launched the fifth series of the iconic Bushmills’ Causeway Collection; their annual selection of rare, exclusive and elusive single malt Irish whiskeys from the world’s oldest licenced whiskey distillery.
Counted among Bushmills “greatest treasures”, the expressions in The Causeway Collection are forged in countless minute but meaningful layers, with the whiskeys allowed to rest in their special casks for an unprecedented length of time, creating waves of flavour every bit as dramatic as the North Antrim Coast where Bushmills is situated.
The 2024 Causeway Collection features eight stunning new expressions ranging in age from 10 to 23 years old and is rolling out across seven global markets, including France, Germany, Ireland, Travel Retail and for the first time, China.
Each whiskey has been thoughtfully selected byBushmills’ Master Blender, Alex Thomas, whose boundless creativity and expertise shine through in every aspect of these limited edition, cask-finished Irish single malts.
This fifth generation of the Causeway Collection includes a 23 Year Old Madeira and a 2011 Oloroso Sherry, as well as three exciting and innovative firsts for Bushmills Irish Whiskey, a 10 Year Old Barolo, a 2010 Double Moscatel and a 22 Year Old Mizunara.
Speaking of this year’s exceptional expressions, Alex Thomas comments: “This series is very special indeed. It includes a stunning Barolo cask finish. Known as the ‘king of wines’ and the ‘wine of kings’ Barolo’s high quality and bold, powerful flavours were perfect for our Causeway Collection.
“For 2024 we have also included a 2010 Double Moscatel finish. Matured first exclusively in Oloroso sherry butts, it has been finished in two types of rare Portuguese Moscatel casks and bottled at a natural cask strength of 49.1% ABV, a truly exquisite whiskey.”
These new expressions epitomise Bushmills’ thirst for the uncommon and unwavering commitment to never standing still – sentiments that have been at the heart of the brand since 1608, when its pursuit of perfection began.
Alex adds: “I am deeply passionate about reimagining Irish single malt. The Causeway Collection gives us a platform to explore and envision where Irish single malt whiskey can go and what it can be”
To celebrate the launch of this year’s collection, Bushmills has created the world’s first ‘whiskey wind down’ audio track, narrated by multi-award winning Northern Irish actor Colin Morgan - star of Belfast and BBC’s Merlin. Designed by audio experts in with collaboration Alex Thomas, the audio track was recorded at the Old Bushmills Distillery and was inspired by the dramatic landscape of The Giants Causeway. It allows whiskey lovers to truly savour and connect with Bushmills’ sublime Causeway Collection single malts and can be listened to here: https://thecausewaycollection.com
The 2024 Causeway Collection are all cask strength and non-chill filtered, and range in price from $101 - $507.
