Chivas Brothers sets gold standard for employee wellbeing - 1st September, 2011
Published Date: 1st September 2011
Whisky producer Chivas Brothers has achieved the Healthy Working Lives Gold Award just eight months after achieving silver status.
The company has moved through the three award stages – from bronze to gold – in just 18 months, a major achievement given the amount of work required at each level.
The Healthy Working Lives award scheme is administered for the Scottish Centre for Healthy Working Lives, part of NHS Health Scotland, and celebrates success in creating healthy and safe workplaces.
For the Gold Award Chivas Brothers had to demonstrate its commitment to supporting and promoting employee health and wellbeing through both its policies and special events. Topics covered include accident prevention, equal employment opportunities, mental health awareness training for managers, healthy eating and supporting staff attendance.
The company also had to produce evidence of its commitment to supporting the local environments surrounding our sites, and the ways in which it supports local communities through initiatives such as charitable giving, sponsorship and education.
Gordon Buist, Technical Director, said: “It’s a great achievement to go from bronze to silver and then gold Healthy Working Lives award level in just 18 months, and demonstrates the hard work of everyone in the team
“From a business perspective achieving Gold Award status recognises the hard work and effort Chivas Brothers puts into continually improving the ways in which we look after the overall health and wellbeing of our employees, and also the commitment we have to the wider community and environment.”
