Kilchoman Distillery Sanaig Cask Strength

For their final global release of 2024, Kilchoman have launched a limited number of bottles of Sanaig Cask Strength. After the success of Machir Bay Cask Strength they thought it was time that everyone had a chance to taste Sanaig at its natural best as well!

This vatting uses the same recipe as their regular Sanaig bottling however, rather than reducing the strength to 46% abv, they have released a limited number of bottles at cask strength; 57.8% abv.

Sanaig is a combination of both oloroso sherry hogshead finishes and fully matured casks.  All their sherry casks are sourced from Bodega José y Miguel Martin and the consistency of these casks is really highlighted at the higher strength.

Sanaig at cask strength has an incredible combination of rich peat smoke and sweet cooked fruits with a deep long lasting glutinous finish.

“Ever since we first launched Machir Bay at cask strength, followers of Kilchoman have been crying out for Sanaig to be bottled at the same high strength. The wait is over and it certainly packs a punch! Rich dark fruits coat the palate and a long lasting finish of sweetness and spice make sure this smoky dram stays with you long after you’ve finished,”Anthony Wills, Kilchoman Founder.

  • Nose: Toffee sweetness and dark fruits with red berries and smoked oak.
  • Palate: Intense sweetness and spiced dark chocolate with raisins, liquorice and warming rich peat smoke.
  • Finish: Lingering sweetness and spices with integrated smoke throughout.
