Skye's The Limit For Ian Macleod Distillers At The International Spirits Challenge - 7th June, 2014
The world’s most respected and influential spirit competition, the International Spirits Challenge, has awarded a gold medal to Isle of Skye 8 Year Old Blended Scotch Whisky.
Owned by Ian Macleod Distillers Ltd, one of Scotland’s leading, independent family-owned distillers, Isle of Skye 8 Year Old Blended Scotch Whisky was amongst 1,000 entries taking part in the International Spirits Challenge. It is supported by most of the world's leading spirits companies as the international standard for quality and excellence.
Described as “stunningly evocative with deep peaty tones and a sweet, spicy finish”, Isle of Skye 8 Year Old Blended Scotch Whisky passed the blind tasting assessment to win gold, which is only awarded to an “outstanding product of exceptional quality”. Its smoothness, mellowness and quality are a result of the fact that every whisky in the recipe has been mellowed in oak casks for at least 8 years - the recognised age of maturity for many malt whiskies.
Iain Weir, Marketing Director for Ian Macleod Distillers, said: “We are delighted to receive this gold medal from such a respected and independent industry body as the International Spirits Challenge.
Winning an ISC gold medal is a welcome endorsement of Isle of Skye’s quality and it reflects our commitment to always offer customers consistently excellent whisky”.
Isle of Skye 8 Year Old Blended Scotch Whisky recently re-launched with a new label as part of a sponsorship agreement with Scottish Mountain Rescue. A donation from every bottle sold goes to support the life-saving work done by mountain rescue teams throughout Scotland.
