Speyburn Single Malt Whisky will once again be joining in the celebrations at the Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival in 2024. Last year saw the picturesque distillery open its doors to the public for the first time in its 126 years of whisky making history.
The 2023 event proved a huge success, with tickets selling out in just 12 hours and over 160 visitors welcomed through the distillery's doors. Speyburn also received the highly coveted 'Best New Event Award' at last year's Festival.
Highlights for the 2024 festival include:
Speyburn Distillery Manager’s Tour and Masterclass
Join Distillery Manager, Euan Henderson or Assistant Distillery Manager, David Rogerson to discover the rich history and heritage of Speyburn Distillery with an immersive tour and masterclass. An evolution of last year's award-winning event, tour the Historic Scotland Listed Drum Maltings for a unique insight into the history of distilling in Speyside before learning first-hand about Speyburn's whisky-making process. Speyburn's Senior Brand Ambassador will then guide you through a collection of Speyburn's oldest and rarest expressions, including a chance to select and taste a sample directly from a collection of four aged Sherry Butts which were filled between 1975 and 1990.
This is an exclusive opportunity to share a truly spectacular look at Speyburn Distillery's liquid past and present, not to be missed.
Speyburn After Hours – Saturday 4th May
Exclusively for the Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival 2024, the Speyburn Distillery team will be hosting a one-off celebratory event to mark a year since first opening its doors to visitors.
Guests will enjoy an evening full of interactive experiences, delicious street food and delightful drinks in the main courtyard. Visitors will even have the chance to enjoy a dram in Scotland's only listed intact Drum Maltings and chat with the distillery team on all things Speyburn. There will also be live entertainment in Speyburn's tasting room where a fully serviced bar will serve into the night, along with a few surprises along the way. This is your chance to appreciate Speyburn like never before!
Euan Henderson, Distillery Manager at Speyburn, commented "The Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival is iconic and a true mainstay in any whisky-lovers' diary.
"Last year's Festival was a huge success for us at Speyburn. We opened our doors to visitors for the first time to mark our 125th anniversary and were amazed by the level of demand. The tours were so popular we sold out in just 12 hours and we also received the 'Best New Event Award'.
"This year we are once again pulling out all the stops to share Speyburn's rich story with whisky fans from across the globe and look forward to welcoming visitors through our doors as part of the Festival."
Speyburn Distillery is set in the heart of the Speyside region on the banks of the Granty Burn and is the only distillery to use its crystal clear water in the whisky-making process. John Hopkins founded Speyburn Distillery on a winter's night in December 1897, and was determined to distil the first drop of whisky that bore the date of Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee.
Over its 126 years, Speyburn has curated an excellent core range that personifies its distillery and craftsmanship - Bradan Orach, 10 Years Old, 15 Years Old and an 18 Years Old. Ranging in flavour and intensity, there is something to suit every preference.
Tickets for Speyburn's exclusive tours in partnership with the festival can be previewed on Thursday 25th January 2024, and will be available to purchase from 12 noon on Wednesday 31st January via the Spirit of Speyside website.
Alongside these limited-edition tours, Speyburn Distillery will continue to invite customers to experience a behind-the-scenes tour throughout the year for those wishing to immerse themselves further in an exciting and informative discovery of Speyburn. Tickets are priced between £20 and £100, with two Behind-the-Scenes tours and three Speyburn Distillery Manager's Tour and Masterclass tours taking place each day. The Speyburn After Hours event will be a one-off on Saturday May 4th from 7pm-11pm.
