Port Askaig Unveils First Limited-Edition Whiskies Since Rebrand
Published Date: 24th March 2025
Port Askaig, renowned for its exceptional Islay single malt whiskies, has announced the release of three, new limited editions which will complement the permanent Port Askaig 8-Year-Old.
Selected by Master Blender, Oliver Chilton, these limited expressions exemplify the style of whisky Port Askaig is well known for, capturing the spirit of the island and its peat smoke, whilst still offering a beautifully balanced spirit.
THREE NEW LIMITED EDITIONS
Port Askaig Cask Strength #02-2024, 59.1% ABV, is the second iteration of its Cask Strength expression and a new batch made from no more than 60 casks. Each batch shows the cask breakdown to enable drinkers to contrast, compare and explore each bottling. Port Askaig Cask Strength #02-2024, introduces flavours of espresso coffee, light liquorice, dark chocolate, lemon, and cacao nibs. The classic Islay peat evolves into hints of cherry and dried raspberry.
Port Askaig 15-Year-Old, 50.5% ABV, is the latest age statement release bringing together just 30 casks from a distillery on Islay’s north coast. Aged in traditional refill hogsheads, the spirit has been allowed to slowly develop, resulting in an elegant and characterful whisky. This small parcel of aged Islay single malt perfectly fit the refined, balanced profile of the Port Askaig range.
Port Askaig 25-Year-Old, 45.8% ABV, has been bottled from a batch of casks from an Islay distillery. These casks were selected for their exceptional flavours of tropical fruit and citrus, along with their full-bodied texture. Time has bestowed this whisky with rich floral notes studded with leather and spice, perfectly complementing its robust peaty character. Bottled at 45.8%, this is a memorable dram that deserves to be savoured to the last drop.
“Port Askaig has always been our home to showcase the elegance of fruit-driven, smoky whisky,” says Oliver Chilton, Master Blender at Elixir Distillers. “With this year’s releases, a wonderfully soft style was chosen for our 15-Year-Old, a result of using refill wood, where oxygen developed more herbal notes alongside the lemon and smoke. For Cask Strength, we leaned into our casking programme, balancing peat with the richness of sherry casks for this ultimate expression of rich, fruity smoke.”
Every expression in the Port Askaig core range is non-chill filtered and free from added colouring, staying true to the brand’s dedication to providing an unadulterated Islay whisky experience.
Port Askaig 15-Year-Old (RRP £112.00), Port Askaig 25-Year-Old (RRP £325.00) and Port Askaig Cask Strength Batch 2 (RRP £65.72) will be available globally from select retailers from April onwards.
