Bushmills® Irish Whiskey Single Malt Collection – Prior To The Latest Permanent Addtions Of 25 & 30 Year Olds

As a pioneer in Irish whiskey, Bushmills was the sole creator of single malts on the island for centuries, at the world’s oldest licensed whiskey distillery which was - and continues to be - an important part of the community. A passion for whiskey craftsmanship and excellence has been passed down among generations of local families for 400 years from fathers to sons and daughters. The resulting small batch expressions will satisfy the curious and the most particular of drinkers. Every drop is triple distilled using 100% Irish malted barley in copper pot stills, creating the signature smooth, Bushmills taste which has been quietly winning awards and accolades for years.

The Bushmills range of elegant single malt whiskeys of 10, 16 and 21 Year Old and 25 and 30 Year Old – tell the story of the local landscape. Located on the rugged north-east coast of Northern Ireland, the Old Bushmills Distillery creates whiskeys linked to the surrounding area, rich in myth and legend; every drop of water used for distillation is drawn from the River Bush, which flows over the same mineral-rich basalt rock as the renowned Giant’s Causeway, located just a stone’s throw away.

The start of 2022 saw Alex Thomas become Master Blender, taking responsibility for selecting and managing the casks for Bushmills famous single malts, nurturing the Bushmills Irish whiskey portfolio of premium blends, and new product development. Alex is one of the world’s few female whiskey master blenders and succeeds Helen Mulholland who began her long career at the Old Bushmills Distillery almost 30 years ago.

Born in Ballymoney, just 15 minutes from the Old Bushmills Distillery, Alex joined the Bushmills team in 2004. Since then, she has spent over 17 years honing her craft, fascinated in particular by the maturation phase of the whiskey making process.

The gentle and approachable Bushmills 10 Year Old Single Malt is a great introduction to single malts, while the bold and spicy 16 Year Old Single Malt is Alex’s favourite from the range and is perfect for those looking for a bolder finish. Finally, the rare and complex 21 Year Old Single Malt is a luxurious treat, perfect for an extra special gift.

FWhile Scotch is aged for at least three years in order to earn its stripes, in Ireland, a further day is added for luck – and the exceptional single malts are evidently aged for much longer. Every stage of the Bushmills single malt journey is completed on site, with generations working side by side, including at the unique in-house cooperage run by a father and son duo
